Spotify x SATURDAY MORNING
Wear Black History
The Brief
To conclude the year long Black History is Happening Now platform Spotify worked with SATURDAY MORNING to develop an activation in New York City to celebrate unsung moments of achievement in black music history.
The Idea
We celebrated six moments that helped define music culture today through an immersive installation and limited edition merchandise.
Working with the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture, we created an immersive experience where visitors walked through physical spaces designed around the Sacred Music of Survival, the Chitlin’ Circuit, Rosetta Tharpe: The Godmother of Rock n’ Roll, the Afro-Latinx Roots of Hip Hop and more. We also gave away limited edition clothing and accessories designed by artists B. Mike Odums and Joy Messi.

The Impact
The experience in Soho, NY drew large steady crowds during our day long activation and coverage from Forbes and Adweek. We successfully gave away over 400 pieces of limited edition merchandise and drove more traffic to the Black History is Now hub on Spotify.
